About MeScholarships Awarded: $50.00 Personal Statement: Hi! My name is Molly. I am the oldest of four and I have been homeschooled all my life. I love to learn, but I especially enjoy piano, writing, and history. Ever since I can remember, I have known what I want to be when I grow up - a homeschool mom. Yet I am open to whatever God has in store for my life. I realize that I may never get married, and I may never have children. However, I do feel that he is calling me to this job, and as a result, I want to prepare for it as best as I can. If He has something else in store, I know he will show me another way to use the things I have learned. There are many reasons why I would like to be a homeschool mom. First of all, I enjoy pretty much all the tasks that come with it (except for balancing checkbooks). I love cooking, shopping, sewing and (at times) cleaning. And although my room is generally a mess, I love to organize and decorate. I love teaching things to my siblings and I like to come up with creative (but not always efficient) ways to motivate them. There is no career out there that can better combine all these interests - or one that is more fulfilling - than being a homeschool mom. When my mom was little, her mother (who was a stay-at-home mom) would tell her, "Your dad makes cameras; I make people." I believe that homeschooling is an incredible privilege - to invest in multiple lives through the things that your parents have taught you through their sacrifices. As I have watched my mom use the skills and knowledge she gained through her education in order to teach my siblings and me, I have learned that with this great privilege comes great responsibility. In order to be best prepared to teach my own children one day, I need to have a solid education. And while high school has a great deal to offer and has been and still is an enriching experience, college will be even better preparation.
