The Academy is nestled against the eastern slope of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, eight miles north of Colorado Springs and 55 miles south of Denver. The campus is comprised of 18,000 acres situated 7,000 feet above sea level. The campus includes world-class facilities fostering and supporting cadet academics, athletics, leadership, and character development. Fairchild Hall is home to both modern classrooms and laboratories. The McDermott Library has wireless capability, contains over 1.5 million volumes, and its special collections include major works in aeronautics and military aviation history. Vandenberg and Sijan Halls are coed dormitories that are home to cadets. The dorms are named for former Air Force leaders and heroes. Our athletic facilities "some of the finest in the nation" include an athletic complex, a gymnasium, a field house, the Falcon Athletic Center, 150 acres of outdoor athletic fields plus the over 46,000-seat Falcon Football Stadium, and two championship golf courses. The Cadet Chapel provides the place to meet the spiritual needs of all cadets. The chapel's 17 spires, soaring 150 feet into the Colorado sky, present an awe-inspiring sight.
