Lyon celebrates the scholarship and the talents, the similarities, and the differences of its students. The decision whether or not to admit a student is made independently of any assessment of the student's ability to pay the full costs of a Lyon education

 

Scholarship Programs

Brown Scholarship

This is the highest honor for an incoming student. The scholarship provides an annual stipend up to the amount of tuition, mandatory fees, room, board and up to $800 each semester for books. The Brown Scholarship is competitively awarded based on student performance at an Honors Day Scholarship Competition held on Lyon’s campus during the fall or winter. Anderson Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded  each year to members of the entering freshman class who have excelled academically in high school and on standardized tests. The scholarship provides an annual stipend up to the amount of tuition.  The Anderson Scholarship is competitively awarded based on student performance at an Honors Day Scholarship Competition held on Lyon’s campus during the fall or winter. West Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded each year to an entering freshman from Arkansas who has excelled in high school and on standardized tests. The scholarship provides an annual stipend up to the amount of tuition.  The West Scholarship is competitively awarded based on student performance at an Honors Day Scholarship Competition held on Lyon’s campus during the fall or winter. Lyon Fellowships
 

The Lyon Fellowships are one of the most prestigious awards and the regions premier program of its type. Designed to blend classroom learning with real world experience by requiring recipients to complete a community service internship during their first or second year and two career related internships following their second and third years. The scholarship provides an annual stipend up to $10,000.  The Lyon Fellowship is competitively awarded based on student performance at an Honors Day Scholarship Competition held on Lyon’s campus during the fall or winter. Honors Day Scholarships
 
Lyon hosts Honors Day Scholarship Competitions every fall and winter, providing competitive students (24 ACT or a 3.25 high school GPA and accepted to the College) the opportunity to earn scholarship money based on performance. During each competition students will provide writing samples and interviews, while their high school GPAs and standardized test results are scored. At the conclusion of each Honors Day, every student competing will receive scholarship money ranging from at least $26,000 over four years, up to greater than $105,000 over four years. Other Scholarships:

Lyon also offers considerable financial aid for those not able to compete at Honors Day scholarship competitions. Students unable to compete will be awarded scholarship funds based on ACT/SAT scores and high school transcripts.

 

Fine Arts Scholarships
 

Lyon offers a limited amount of scholarships annually to members of the entering freshman class who demonstrate outstanding ability in theatre, music, or art. Candidates must schedule a campus audition or portfolio review through the Admissions Office.
 
Scottish Heritage Scholarships
 
Lyon offers a limited number of scholarships annually to members of the entering freshman class who demonstrate outstanding ability in Piping, Drumming, or Highland Dance.  Scottish fiddle, accordion, or other instruments inherent to a ceilidh band will also be considered.  Candidates must schedule a campus audition or review through the Admissions Office.

Transfer Scholarships

Lyon welcomes qualified transfer students who have demonstrated their academic ability and commitment to the pursuit of a higher education at other institutions. Transfers with a GPA of 2.75 or higher are eligible to receive a Scholarship.

Athletic Scholarships

Lyon is an NAIA Division School and competes in the TranSouth Conference. A limited number of Athletic Scholarships are available for student-athletes who are members of Lyon’s intercollegiate athletic teams.

Lyon offers extensive need-based and merit-based financial aid. Last year 98 percent of Lyon students obtained financial aid, and the average aid package was $19,000.
